MONTREAL: Packages containing a human foot and hand were discovered at two schools in Vancouver on Tuesday, in what could be the latest gruesome twist in the case of a Canadian porn actor suspected of dismembering and eating his former lover.

FAISALABAD: The Education Department on Tuesday cancelled registration of 148 private schools in the district for not closing for summer vacations in violation of the government’s directive for summer vacations from June 1.

LAHORE: The provincial government may reduce work hours for secretariat workers by an hour, replacing 8am- to-3pm work day with a 7am-to-1pm one, in a bid to conserve electricity.

LAHORE: A dust storm with light rain in the provincial capital and some other parts of the country brought the mercury down on Tuesday, providing some relief to the people facing scorching heat since the beginning of June.

Pakistan on Tuesday tested a fifth nuclear-capable missile since India launched a new long-range weapon capable of hitting China just over six weeks ago.
The Hatf VII cruise missile has a range of 700 kilometres, can carry conventional warheads and has stealth capabilities, the military said.

LAHORE: Fire erupted inside a known bookstore located on Mall Road, near the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of the Ferozsons bookshop which gradually grew and reached the upper portion.

ISLAMABAD - Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director Dr Sohail Naqvi expressed dissatisfaction over the HEC annual budgetary allocations of Rs 15.8 billion for the year 2012-13, as the commission was expecting a little more allocations as compared to the previous year.

RAWALPINDI – Nearly 200 teachers, appointed on the direction of government of the Punjab, have not received their salary for the last two months.

DCO drug inspectors: Medical store sealed
On the directions of DCO drug inspectors checked 60 medical stores during last 3 days while one medical store sealed on the charge of selling expired medicines and a is case also registered. During inspections 17 medicines samples were collected and sent to laboratories for analysis. 4 cases have been referred to District Quality Control Board while 5 cases have been sent to drug court.
